Feeling Tired?

It's midday, and you thought you had a good night of sleep. You're doing no more than you usually do, yet you can't seem to stop yawning. Should you lie down for a nap?

Try drinking a glass of water. When the body is giving off a tired signal, it is usually begging for a little H2O. Remember back to your early years when you learned a fascinating fact: our bodies are approximately two-thirds water! Dehydration is caused when our bodies are using water to perform their daily functions, but we are not replacing the water throughout the day.

A big sign that you are becoming dehydrated is when you actually feel thirsty. Fatigue, dizziness, headache, muscle weakness, and a dry mouth are also signs that you need water. You can also mistake being thirsty for being hungry. For those trying to watch their caloric intake, try grabbing a glass of water before reaching for food and see if the hunger pangs go away. It pays to be consistent, drinking the recommended 8-10 glasses of water a day, incorporating it into your daily routine.

Need more incentive to drink those glasses of water? Some research suggests that drinking the recommended amount of water daily can significantly ease the suffering of some with chronic pains in their backs and joints. It can also decrease the risk of several types of cancers, such as bladder, breast, and colon.

Water is literally right on tap, so get yourself a sports bottle or pretty glass, and keep it flowing!
